Fable will now permanently* be included in Max plans and Team Premium seats.
Quick recap of how we got here: Fable launched, got pulled offline 3 days later under export controls, came back with an expiration date, and then that date kept getting pushed further out (after plenty of people had already upgraded their plans just to get more Fable usage). As of last week, that time limit is gone.
Anthropic knows this was a PR disaster, exacerbated by the random 30-minute outage last week that caused multiple group chats of mine to crash out.
But people are forgetting one thing.
✔️ Anthropic knows they're up against GPT 5.6 and Kimi K3
✔️ Anthropic knows how loud the backlash was against subscription shifts
✔️ Anthropic knows the skyrocket effect they handed OpenAI Codex
… and they still gave a lower limit and restricted to only the highest tiers.
THAT should tell you how compute-constrained of a world we live in today.
