Walmart Connect is not Amazon with cheaper clicks.

Walmart Connect is not Amazon with cheaper clicks.

That is the wrong mental model.

Yes, CPCs are often lower.

Yes, competition is usually lighter.

Yes, some categories still have real arbitrage.

But if you copy your Amazon structure into Walmart, you will miss the point.

Amazon is search-first.

Walmart is basket-first.

That changes the strategy.

We tested this with a household brand across both platforms.

On Amazon, the winning angle was convenience:

→ Fast reorder

→ Specific use case

→ Individual product benefit

On Walmart, the winning angle was household value:

→ Multi-pack

→ Stock-up language

→ Family usage

→ Price-per-unit clarity

Same product.

Different shopper.

Different job.

The Amazon-style Walmart campaign had cheaper clicks but weak conversion.

The Walmart-native version changed three things:

→ Broader keyword set

→ Stronger value messaging

→ Budget tied to household basket behavior

Result:

→ CPC stayed low

→ CVR improved 23%

→ ACOS dropped 7 points

The lesson was not "Walmart is cheaper."

The lesson was "Walmart rewards a different buying context."

If your Walmart ads are underperforming, do not just lower bids.

Ask whether the creative and campaign structure match the way people shop there.

Cheap traffic is not a strategy.

Matched intent is.
