Why does product packaging win the main image test 9 times out of 10? It's not what you think.

Everyone assumes it's the text.

"Oh, you can print your benefits right on the box, shoppers read it, conversion goes up." That's the surface-level answer. And it's wrong.

The real reason is pixel utilization.

When your main image is the product in its packaging, you're filling every square pixel of that frame.

No white-space padding. No floating product on an empty background.

You're maxing out the real estate Amazon hands you in the search results.

And in a SERP full of competitors, the listing that physically takes up more visual space wins the scroll.

It grabs the eye before a single word is read.

The text on the packaging? Still matters. But it's secondary. It's the closer, not the opener. The pixels get the click. The copy earns the conversion.

Most brands optimize the wrong half of that equation. They obsess over what the box says and ignore how much space it owns.

Stop thinking about your main image as a photo. Start thinking about it as territory. Take all of it.

Check out the PickFu results below.

Even though paste was more visible, users were able to see how the actual dispenser looked but they still chose to go with the product packaging one.
