Most Amazon sellers are focused on product cost when they should be focused on unit economics.

I was comparing a shampoo and conditioner bundle in Target versus Amazon and noticed something that most sellers would completely miss.

The Amazon version actually contained MORE product.

At first glance, that seems backwards.

Wouldn't smaller products be cheaper to ship?

Not always.

The best Amazon operators understand that fulfillment fees work in tiers.

Sometimes increasing the size of a product slightly allows you to maximize customer value while staying within the same fee structure.

That creates a better offer without significantly increasing costs.

This is where many brands leave money on the table.

They focus on reducing costs instead of optimizing value.

The strongest Amazon brands understand how packaging, FBA fees, shipping costs, storage costs, conversion rates, and customer perception all work together.

That's why product development isn't just about creating something people want.

It's about designing an offer that wins financially.

Every successful product has two customers:

The shopper.

And the business model behind it.
