Jeff Bezos says blaming a villain doesn't fix the economy

It just makes people feel better for ten seconds

That's the trap

People are struggling

Budgets are squeezed

The pressure is real

And instead of doing the hard

skilled work of finding the root cause

The easy move is the oldest play in the book

Pick a villain

Point the finger

Rally the crowd

It creates emotion

It creates headlines

It creates sides

It does not create a single solution

Bezos built Amazon on the opposite instinct

and it's the one I run on every fire that hits my desk

When something broke

nobody started with who do we blame

They asked why

Then why again

Then why again

Until they hit the root

Because surface fixes bring the problem right back

Root fixes make it disappear for good

I've watched the same thing play out

in companies, teams and brands

The second people start blaming

instead of diagnosing

progress flatlines

But when a leader gets honest about the real cause

everything moves

Blame treats the symptom

Root cause kills the disease

One feels powerful for an afternoon

The other actually changes the outcome

Finger-pointing looks like leadership

It's the opposite of it

The reality is the best operators

Don't walk in with somebody to blame

They walk in asking why

and they keep asking until the truth

has nowhere left to hide

Blame is easy

Root cause thinking is the job
