Amazon has started asking sellers to declare whether listing images are AI-generated.

They’re also asking if AI-generated people are used in the images.

Right now, no one really knows what Amazon will do with this.

Maybe it becomes a compliance requirement.

Maybe it affects visibility.

Maybe nothing happens for a while.

But one thing is clear:

Amazon is paying attention.

Here’s how I see it.

If your product is already doing well and you have the budget, the safest path is still traditional photography and creative production.

Use AI for research, concepts, competitor analysis, copy direction, image planning, and faster testing.

If you’re using AI images, be honest. Mark them as AI-generated. Don’t try to hide it. Don’t create fake people, fake claims, fake results, or anything that can mislead the customer.

Use AI more for editing, enhancement, backgrounds, layouts, concepts, testing angles, and creative speed.

And if you’re in the early stage and AI is helping you move faster, keep going.

We don’t know yet if Amazon will reward it, restrict it, or simply use this data to understand how sellers are creating content.

But don’t ignore the signal.

The sellers who win won’t be the ones who blindly use AI for everything.

They’ll be the ones who use AI intelligently, stay transparent, and still build assets that actually help customers buy.

AI is not the problem.

Bad, misleading, lazy creative is the problem.

Good news:  you can use listingoptimization.ai for all of the above.
