5 BIG PETFOOD BRANDS FAIL MOBILE READABILITY.
I tested them with RHINO AI. They all failed.
It's June 2026. Nearly 20 years since the iPhone launched.
After the metaverse hype was dead and buried...
And yet these top pet food brands still aren't mobile-readable.
================================================
Why does this matter for pet food specifically?
================================================
🔥Over 40% of pet food sales happen online.
🔥The vast majority of online sales are on mobile
🔥Subscription models mean pet parents never want to run out
🔥Online pet food spend skews high-income earners who want convenience.
You'd assume the visual experience would be glance-readable on mobile?
🤯 WRONG.
================================================
The FIVE Fails on MOBILE-READABLE HEROES LIVE IN THE UK
================================================
→ ROYAL CANIN: contrast failure on Kitten variant name
→ DREAMIES: Salmon, Turkey, Duck all fail contrast
→ PEDIGREE: Beef/Poultry variant unreadable
→ WHISKAS: Meaty Meals variant black text on red = illegible
→ CESAR: Beef variant impossibly small text + poor contrast
Why glance-readability matters more here?
================================================
Pet food has a brutal shopper decision tree:
================================================
→ SPECIES CONFUSION:
Dog & Cat packaging often share identical layouts. On mobile, icons blur.
→ LIFE-STAGE:
Puppy vs Adult vs Senior. Specialised formulas. All need instant clarity.
→ FLAVOUR complexity:
Finicky pets demand precise matching. Chicken vs Salmon vs Beef.
→ SIZE illusion:
Perceptual size is hard to work out on a thumbnail. 85g or 8.5 kg bag?
The 4Ws (Brand, Format, Variant, Size) need to be readable at thumbnail size in 400 milliseconds proven by eyetracking with Tobii
These heroes don't deliver that.
So their sales of these failing brands would be suppressed.
================================================
Why haven't they tested?
================================================
They think they have mobile-ready heroes.
They trusted their agency and eyeballed it.
Until RHINO AI, there wasn't an automated tester that worked at scale.
Now there is.
Is your brand mobile-readable? Would you pass RHINO AI?
What online growth are you missing out on by not testing?
