How long do you think you have before AI starts to learn on its own?

Self-learning AI learns from your environment as you use it, keeping track of how you work and reusing it instead of waiting on the next training run. For now that happens in a memory layer the model writes as you work, while the weights set during training stay fixed. The leap is when the model starts updating those weights too, from the same loop.

The CTO of Google DeepMind, koray kavukcuoglu, explains how agents already learn this way from your environment without retraining.

In our full talk, we got into whether the chip shortage is real, the four signals that AGI is close, and the one daily habit he says will bring you into 2026.
