The biggest mistake sellers make is treating TikTok Shop like Amazon.

These are fundamentally different marketplaces.

Amazon is driven by intent-based search.

Customers already know what they want and are actively searching for it.

That means:

• we can track demand

• analyze keywords

• understand ranking opportunities

• predict traffic patterns

• optimize conversion rates with much more certainty

TikTok Shop is different.

Discovery still happens largely through the For You Page, creators, livestreams, and viral momentum. There’s less predictability because consumer behavior is still heavily tied to content distribution.

That doesn’t mean TikTok Shop isn’t powerful.

It absolutely is.

But many sellers underestimate how much volatility comes from relying on virality instead of demand-based search behavior.

The long-term winners will understand how to leverage both:

• TikTok for attention

• Amazon for demand capture

That’s a huge part of what we focus on with DataDive because understanding where customers are actually searching changes everything: https://lnkd.in/e2h4mCJ2

Curious how many sellers here are seeing stronger profitability from Amazon versus TikTok Shop right now?
