Europe is a retail powerhouse, but its ecom crown belongs to outsiders. Amazon alone hit $231.6B GMV in Europe in 2025 โ dwarfing Ozon ($39.8B) and Wildberries ($36.5B).
Chinese giants are scaling fast: AliExpress ($33.6B), Temu ($30.9B), and Shein ($21.9B) are now deeply embedded across Europeโs fragmented markets.
Meanwhile, only two European players cracked the top 10: Allegro ($16.7B) and Zalando ($15.5B).
โ ๏ธ Europe has demand, consumers, and spending power โ but too few homegrown digital champions.
The result? Ecommerce profits, data, and ad dollars keep flowing abroad.
Who wins in the end? Wins the brand which expands first across those channels!
