If you're a DTC brand running resale on your own site and wondering how to fold

If you're a DTC brand running resale on your own site and wondering how to fold it into your Amazon channel, save yourself the strategy session. You can't.

Brand-direct resale has been one of the smarter moves DTC brands have made recently. Take returns, list them on your own site at a lower price point, recapture margin you'd otherwise eat. It works.

But every founder I've talked to who's running it eventually asks the same question: how does this play with Amazon?

It doesn't. And the reason is operational, not strategic.

Amazon FBA only accepts new product into its fulfillment centers. You cannot ship used, returned, or refurbished inventory in. There is no version of this where your resale SKUs end up living on Amazon.

Refurbished and used has always been an eBay lane. Resale on your own site is the same lane with better margins because you own the customer relationship.

So if you're running resale, treat it like the separate channel it is. It will not feed your Amazon flywheel, and trying to make it will create operational headaches that aren't worth the upside.

Amazon is the new product channel. Resale is everything else.
