One thing most Amazon sellers still underestimate is how closely inventory distribution impacts rankings.

A lot of sellers think inventory planning is purely operational.

It’s not.

Amazon rewards proximity.

If inventory is distributed closer to customers around the country, shipping speeds improve.

And shipping speed directly influences:

• conversion

• ad efficiency

• ranking stability

• total sales performance

That becomes especially important leading into Prime Day.

Years ago, many sellers could operate with 4–6 weeks of inventory relatively safely.

Today, for many brands, 8–12 weeks is often much healthier if you want Amazon to properly distribute inventory nationwide.

Because what happens after Prime Day matters just as much as Prime Day

itself.

If inventory drops below critical thresholds:

• shipping slows

• rankings weaken

• ads become less efficient

• sales momentum declines

Inventory management is increasingly becoming a growth lever, not just a logistics task.

The brands that understand operational infrastructure usually scale more predictably long term.

That’s a huge part of what we analyze with DataDive:
