Amazon adds AI podcast creation feature to Alexa+ The new feature called "Alexa Podcasts" began to be deployed for users in the US from May 19.
So you can see the article's full details with the link in the comments, but I have tried a couple of topics on these Alexa+ podcasts and here are some initial thoughts (more about how they compare to podcasts from NotebookLM and Huxe will be shared in different forum).
Initial thoughts on Alexa+ podcasts:
➕ Easy to request with a simple ask of Alexa to create a podcast about a topic. Alexa will confirm and ask 1 follow up question on anything specific to focus on. Users can customize the length, tone or focus of content before the AI completes the final product. -- One of my podcast requests was the difference between Alexa Shopping and Walmart's Sparky with follow up focus on Consumer Experience and what CPGs should do to prepare.
➕ The episode is 2 hosts (Riley and Blake) and they are very transparent that they are AI and that people should rely on professionals to make financial decisions.
➕ They are produced in less than 10 minutes and you are notified via Alexa device requested and on your phone (depending on your settings). Length ranges from 10-15 minutes.
➕ In the Alexa App you can see all the sources with links of the episode, but no transcript that I can find yet. Image of the sources in the comments.
✖️ Concept of time and some terms are "off". Mentions Alexa Shopping launched back in... "May 2026". Initially called Sparky, Spark.
✖️ Info is very basic and topline (would be good for beginners of a subject which makes it a plus), but not as detailed as other podcast options.
It was interesting to hear the podcast say that product reviews and TikTok Shop are measured by Retailer's buyers in making decisions on in store shelf space as brand building starts online for the fastest growing Brands. This was the rare provocative statement of the episode.
Curious what other's experiences are and how/if these improve.
