One of the biggest complaints Amazon sellers have had for years is pricing control.
Specifically:
If your product is listed cheaper somewhere else online, Amazon can suppress your Buy Box visibility.
That creates a difficult situation for brands.
Because sellers are investing in:
• product development
• advertising
• customer acquisition
• inventory risk
Yet platform-level visibility can still be influenced by pricing behavior across other channels.
This has become part of the larger discussion around Amazon’s competitive practices and marketplace influence.
In Europe, there has already been more regulatory attention around these types of issues.
In the U.S., I think we’ll continue seeing these conversations move through the courts over time.
Regardless of where someone stands politically, I think most sellers simply want clarity and consistency around marketplace rules.
The larger takeaway for brands is this:
Amazon is not just a storefront.
It’s an ecosystem where pricing strategy, visibility, Buy Box ownership, and competitive positioning are deeply connected.
Understanding that system matters.
