Amazon blocked a legal product. Six times!!!
A seller listed a pesticide product on Amazon
✅ Every ingredient was on the EPA's approved list.
✅ The label was correct.
✅ No registration number was required by federal law because the product qualified for a 25(b) exemption under FIFRA.
Either way, Amazon's compliance system flagged it, and the worst part is that to solve it, Seller Support always asked for an EPA registration number, even when your product has an exemption.
In this case, the product does not have one, because it cannot have one, and that exemption is precisely what makes registration unnecessary. So the system keeps requesting a document that legally cannot exist.
What is actually happening: Amazon's automated compliance infrastructure was built to process two outcomes for pesticides.
A registration number exists, or the product is non-compliant. A 25(b) exempt product creates a third condition that the automated pathway was never designed to handle, and the absence of a registration number is treated as a deficiency, instead of evidence of exemption status.
So in many cases Seller Support "cannot resolve this" since the workflow assumes every pesticide either has a registration number or is blocked.
The resolution required a completely different escalation path, one that reaches a team with the regulatory literacy to evaluate the argument rather than process a document submission.
