Changing a badge is not a split testing strategy.

A lot of Amazon image tests are too similar to teach you anything.

One version has a badge.

One version has a slightly bigger product.

One version has a different shadow.

One version moves the packaging from left to right.

That’s not useless.

But it’s not where the big wins usually come from.

The real foundation of split testing is understanding the difference between:

Creative angles and creative variations.

A creative variation is a small change inside the same idea.

A creative angle is a completely different reason for the customer to stop scrolling.

For example:

Variation:

Same image, different badge.

Angle:

Make the full bundle value the hero.

Variation testing helps you improve an image.

Angle testing helps you find the image worth improving.

That’s the difference.

And this is why so many tests feel flat.

Sellers keep polishing the same concept before they know if the concept is even the right one.

The smarter order is:

1. Test angles first.

Go wide. Test very different concepts. Find the direction that gets attention.

2. Then test variations.

Once you find the winning angle, start improving the details: layout, badges, product size, packaging, copy, contrast, etc.

Angle testing is riskier.

Some images will lose badly.

But it’s also where the upside is.

Because small changes usually create small gains.

Different angles can create completely different outcomes.

Before your next main image test, ask yourself:

Am I testing a new image… or just decorating the old one?
