Brand Registry does not protect your catalog all the way.

One of our clients at Online Seller Solution had a 300-child ASIN variation family, fully enrolled in Brand Registry, and had a listing that looked completely fine. Active ASIN. Ranking at position 12 in the family. Generating sales, and the detail page showed nothing unusual.

Meanwhile, approximately 70 unwanted attribute contributions were accumulating in the backend.

All that was due to a third-party seller that had been pushing content into attribute fields through a flat file submission from the Mexico marketplace. Fields with zero relation to the product: brake style, lens color, fabric type, furniture finish. The intent was to trigger automated compliance flags and suppress the listing.

Here is where the system did something the brand owner did not expect.

The data augmenters detected the Mexico-origin contributions and treated them as eligible catalog content, then distributed those contributions across 4 language variants of the US marketplace: Arabic, Spanish, German, and Portuguese.

Once the augmenter wrote those values over the listings attribute, a flat file from the brand account could not overwrite them. The attacker's content was now ranked above the brand owner inside Amazon's own system.

The backend held attributes containing adult product terms, pesticide language, and sanctioned-origin product references, all sitting in fields the seller could not resolve through standard escalation paths.

Seller Support could not fix it, Brand Registry violation reports were scoped to external sellers, not internal contributor types. Every standard tool the seller reached for was designed for a different problem.

The resolution required understanding which contributor type touched which field, at what authority level, before selecting any tool. That sequence is what OSS Lab Case 19 covers in full.
