Amazon's API has a dirty secret...
It only speaks English. Even for German, French, Italian, and Spanish marketplaces.
Here's what this means for international sellers:
1️⃣ **The interface lies to you**
Bulk edit dropdowns show "Zentimeter," "Kilogramm," etc. But uploads must use "Centimeters," "Kilograms."
2️⃣ **Export vs. manual = different rules**
Export a template? English values that work. Start fresh? Localized terms that fail.
3️⃣ **Bulk becomes manual**
5,000 listings rejected because you trusted Amazon's own dropdown suggestions.
4️⃣ **The workaround that works**
Always export first. Use those exact English enum values. Never trust what the interface suggests.
This isn't a bug. It's how Amazon built their system — English backend, localized frontend, zero coordination between them.
Most sellers discover this after wasting weeks on "bulk" uploads that force them back to one-by-one manual entry.
But once you know? You can actually scale across EU marketplaces without the constant rejections.
How many hours have you lost to Amazon's English-only API demands?
