Client uploads 5,000 product variations to Amazon Germany...
All rejected.
Here's what went wrong:
Amazon's bulk edit interface shows dropdown options in German — "Zentimeter," "Kilogramm," etc. Looks official. Looks valid.
But when you upload? The API demands English enum values.
"Zentimeter" fails. "Centimeters" works.
Same data. Different language. Amazon's system accepts one, rejects the other.
The kicker? If you export a template from Amazon, it gives you the English values that actually work. But if you start fresh or modify existing data, the interface shows localized terms that will break your upload.
So "bulk" editing becomes manual editing.
5,000 products becomes 5,000 individual fixes.
Hours become weeks.
The solution isn't obvious. Most sellers don't realize Amazon's interface is essentially lying about what's acceptable.
You have to export first, use those exact English terms, and ignore what the dropdowns suggest.
Annoying? Yes. But once you know, it saves massive time.
Ever had Amazon's own interface sabotage your bulk operations?
