Time 100 Gala last night and I’m still processing it.

(Also still healing my retinas from the red carpet...those cameras flash at you nonstop, good god. No idea how real celebrities do this every day.)

Had a moment on the carpet where it hit me that this is the Time AI 100 list I’m on this year, and I was there because of work I’m lucky enough to actually love and do every day. That part never stops being a little surreal.

For the speeches, every single person who took that mic used their two minutes to talk about something they’re actually trying to change. Alan Cumming. Chloe Kim. Person after person. They used it to make an argument, share what they’re building, or call the room to do something about it.

Head is swirling with reflections but one more: people ask me all the time what their kids should study in an AI world, and I usually give a hedged answer because the honest one sounds too simple. But the simple answer, and what on full display last night: study whatever you want. The two skills that compound in an AI world are (1) high agency and (2) a strong sense of wonder. Full stop. Every person I talked to, from Keke Palmer to Jimmy Donaldson (aka MrBeast) to Ben Stiller to 3 astronauts (Amanda is a legend) to Nobel laureates to Olympians to founders, runs on both. Same operating system, completely different fields. Teach your kids to curate their sense of wonder and how to turn “what if” into action in the shortest (responsible) amount of time.

I don’t take a night like this for granted. Not the invite, not the list, not the conversations, not even the scorched retinas. Thank you again for the honor, TIME! A great reminder that individual people can still move things, and I’m going to keep building toward the change I want to see in the world.
