Your ads are not broken, your listings are invisible.
I talked about this at the European Seller Conference, and I wanted to share it with you.
In case you missed it, Amazon is retiring its legacy flat file templates, and sadly, many will find out the hard way when their ASINs stop appearing in the right category tree.
The common assumption is that if a listing is live and running ads, it is categorized correctly.
But with Amazon enforcing strict Product Type (PT) boundaries in its new category-specific flat file templates, each PT now has a locked attribute set.
So the old workaround of using a sibling PT to access extra fields has been closed.
And the generic CLR template is being phased out in favor of dedicated category flat files that enforce the correct PT and Item Type Keyword (ITK) structure.
To understand its impact first we have to know that at the system level, your Browse Node is not something you choose directly, it is assigned automatically based on the combination of your PT and your ITK.
If those two are misaligned in your flat file, Amazon places your product in the wrong category tree.
Your PPC can be running perfectly, and customers browsing your category still cannot find you, and that is more data problem than an ad campaign one.
The thing is that your software does not catch this, since they do not audit whether your PT and ITK are still aligned after Amazon restructures its browse tree and template schema. That gap belongs to a human process.
So my recommendation would be to pull your Category Listing Report and identify which ITKs your products are currently using.
Then cross-check those ITKs against the new category-specific templates, anywhere the PT and ITK are no longer aligned, you have a suppression or miscategorization risk that needs to be corrected before it affects organic and sponsored visibility.
The cleanest catalog data going into Amazon's AI classification system produces the most accurate placement. Garbage in, garbage out. That principle never expires.
