I tried Claude's new design tool so you don't have to (unless you want to)...Here's my honest take, and how Claudette stacks up against Lovable.
What caught my attention:
Claude Design has a design system feature. You input your fonts, colors, icon preferences, headline styles, and it uses that every time. No starting from scratch. No explaining your brand. It just knows.
For someone who has an established design system (hi 👋 ), that's genuinely exciting.
What actually happened:
The design aesthetic? Impressive. Using the same prompt and same design system in both tools, Claude's output looked better.
The token usage?
I blew through my limit on one slide deck. On Lovable, I can build multiple landing pages and presentations without hitting a wall. That's a real problem for production work.
The publishing?
This is where it falls apart for marketers. Lovable lets you publish instantly, customize your link, add a custom domain, all in one place.
Claude Design exports to Canva (slides weren't editable), exports as PDF (looks worse than the web version), or requires you to download the HTML and host it yourself. Not ideal.
🍒 The workaround I found (save this if you use Claude Design):
Download the HTML file from Claude, upload it to Lovable, publish from there.
You can't edit it inside Lovable, but you can keep editing in Claude, re-download, and re-upload.
It's a two-tool workflow, but it works.
My verdict:
Claude Design wins on aesthetics and brand consistency. Lovable wins on ease of publishing and token value. Until Claude solves the publishing problem, I'm using both: Claude to design, Lovable to deploy.
Would love to know if anyone else has found a better workflow. Drop it below.
