🧩 Your listing is missing fields you never knew existed.

It is easy to just fill the required attributes when building a listing. fill the mandatory fields, hit submit, and move on.

The product goes live and assume the work is done.

It is not.

Amazon has three attribute types:

➡️ Required (the minimum to create a listing)

➡️ Conditional (triggered by other selections you make)

➡️ Optional (additional detail that improves the customer experience and reduces returns)

Conditional attributes are where catalogs break. You select a product type, and a new set of required fields activates. If you do not know they appeared, you never fill them. The listing exists, but Amazon's system sees it as incomplete. That affects search placement and filter eligibility.

And then there is the contribution weight.

When multiple sellers share an ASIN, Amazon runs a "selected contributor" system. Every attribute is a bucket that multiple sellers pour data into. Amazon evaluates each contribution through three filters:

📌 SKU: where the contribution is going

📌 Seller ID: who is contributing

📌 Seller Rating: how much weight that contribution carries

You can feel that impact when your flat file goes through, and the PDP does not change, this happens because Amazon picks the contribution from the source it trusts most instead of the most recent.

So before troubleshooting your content, audit two things: whether your conditional attributes are actually filled, and whether your contribution standing is high enough to win the selection. Most listing problems live in one of those two places.
