Instagram just launched native affiliate commissions for Reels.

TikTok Shop proved the model. Now Meta is copying it.

Adam Mosseri announced this week that creators can now tag up to 30 products directly inside a Reel. When someone buys, the creator earns a commission.

Now checkout still happens OFF Instagram, they haven't built the same infrastructure TikTok did.

If the viewer taps the product, they get redirected to your site or Amazon.

TikTok keeps the entire purchase inside the app That's a completely different conversion path with a completely different drop-off rate.

Right now, Instagram's affiliate model is closer to Amazon Associates than it is to TikTok Shop.

But, Meta has announced that an Amazon affiliate integration is coming as part of this rollout.

TikTok creates the discovery moment. Amazon captures the purchase. Now Instagram is now trying to own the space in between.

That changes the math completely for brands selling on Amazon.

Every major platform is moving toward creator-led commerce. TikTok just got there first.

If you're still treating creators as a one-channel play, you're going to be rebuilding from scratch every 18 months.
