Yesterday I shared about the SP Video placement % launch. You need to understand that this is different from normal placement adjustments, as it works as an additional bidding layer rather than just controlling where your ad shows.
SP Video bidding works as an additional layer on top of normal placement and audience adjustments. Your base bid is first adjusted for placement and audience, and then the video multiplier is applied at the end, making it much more powerful than standard placement bidding.
For example, if your base bid is $1, and you set a +50% adjustment for Rest of Search, the bid becomes $1.5. If you then add a +50% audience adjustment, it increases to $2.25. Finally, if you apply a +100% video adjustment, the bid becomes $4.5. So your final bid becomes 4.5x.
The key difference is that normal placements only control where your ad appears, while video bidding controls how aggressively you compete for video inventory after all other adjustments, making it a high-impact scaling lever.
Because all adjustments stack, combining placement, audience, and video multipliers can quickly increase CPC, so it’s important to control each layer carefully rather than increasing everything at once.
The best approach is to keep base bids relatively stable and use video multipliers strategically to scale high-performing campaigns, especially when you have strong creatives that can justify higher bids.
