6am train to London. Many skipping the morning rush and premium by heading in early. Tap tap tapping away on those “impress your boss” interactions. My wife and I found it difficult deciding where to live in the UK when we moved back. If you’re not tied to a city for work then everywhere is an option. Which makes it heaps harder. But obviously much more enjoyable when buying or renting.
We’ve lost a few potential clients recently as they’re so stubborn that the ads manager needs to be on-site. And there can be arguments either way as to whether that is better for advertising performance on Amazon.
But one point that cannot be argued is that hiring a full time senior Amazon person in London, or any major city, is a fortune now. And you are not getting any additional skill or experience from that hire.
It’s an illusion. And it’s costing you up to and over $50k a year on a single person.
Which means you can either put that back into ad spend and compete. Or you can hire a second person.
If you look at the worlds biggest sellers, like Utopia, they aren’t restricting the number of ad managers they have. They’re throwing volume at that problem. Hours at the problem. And they’re the biggest.
They’re also predominantly hiring in Pakistan. Which could be evidence that you don’t need the “London” or “Seattle” talent you’ve convinced yourself you need to succeed.
Remote people that are many many hours away from where you are, can and will outperform your local team.
A recent study we did found that salaries in the US for senior Amazon advertising managers are comfortably over $100k.
The most we’ve charged someone at Pare is $6200/month. For a full time resource. And the client is delighted 4 months in. As are ther shareholders.
Some will ignore this post. Hire locally anyway. And it might still work out.
But others, they’ll think a little differently in 2026. Especially with Amazon crippling margins more than ever before.
