The first 5 keywords in your Amazon title matter the most
And most sellers are wasting them on fluff
I see titles that start with "Premium Quality Ultra Soft Luxury" and wonder why they're not ranking
Because Amazon's algorithm weighs the beginning of your title heavier than the end
Amazon reads your title left to right and assigns decreasing importance to each keyword position
- Keywords 1-5 get maximum ranking weight
- Keywords 6-10 get moderate weight
- Keywords 11+ get minimal weight
Yet most sellers structure their titles backwards
They lead with adjectives instead of search terms
"Premium Quality Ultra Soft Memory Foam Pillow for Side Sleepers"
Should be: "Memory Foam Pillow Side Sleepers Premium Quality Ultra Soft"
Same keywords, completely different ranking power
The first version wastes 4 keyword positions on low-search-volume adjectives
The second version leads with the exact terms people actually search for
The better way to structure:
- Position 1-2: Primary keyword (what people search most)
- Position 3-4: Secondary keyword variation
- Position 5: Category or use case keyword
- Position 6+: Modifiers, brand, features
Example: "Yoga Mat Non Slip Exercise Thick Premium TPE Material"
Not: "Premium Quality Non Slip Ultra Thick TPE Yoga Exercise Mat"
Most sellers think Amazon reads their entire title equally
It doesn't
