One of the most important lessons I’ve learned from scaling an Amazon business is the power of working backwards from goals.
Many entrepreneurs focus on effort instead of structure.
They work hard, but they don’t always work in alignment with a defined outcome.
The best operating systems solve this.
Traction calls it EOS.
Google calls it OKRs.
The 4 Disciplines of Execution calls it lead measures.
Each system emphasizes the same principle.
Define the goal first.
Then identify the leading activities that drive that goal.
Then measure progress through scorecards.
Jennifer and I use this approach across our Amazon brands, our software company, and even our personal goals.
This creates alignment across teams and clarity across priorities.
For Amazon sellers, this is especially important.
You should not only track revenue.
You should track the drivers of revenue.
Keyword ranking progress
Conversion rate improvements
Product development timelines
Advertising efficiency
Scorecards turn ambition into execution.
❓Question. Do you currently use scorecards to track the leading drivers of your business goals?
