One of the most overlooked skills in business is learning how to evaluate people.
Most partnerships start with a pitch. A presentation. A quick call.
But long term success is built on trust, not just opportunity.
That’s why so many founders and executives choose environments where they can spend real time together, like a golf course.
It’s not about the sport. It’s about the visibility.
When you spend four hours with someone, you see things you would never see on a 30 minute Zoom.
You see how they handle frustration.
You see how they treat others.
You see how they behave when things don’t go their way.
Those moments tell you far more than their resume ever will.
Jennifer and I learned this lesson while building our Amazon business.
The right partner creates leverage. They multiply your progress.
The wrong partner creates friction. They slow everything down.
Skills can be taught. Character is much harder to change.
For Amazon sellers especially, this matters.
You are trusting people with your listings, your capital, your brand, and your future.
Take the time to understand who you are building with, not just what you are building.
What is one way you personally evaluate trust before entering a business relationship?
