I see this on almost every account I audit:
Dashboards green.
Profit red.
Clicks up.
Impressions up.
Cash? Down.
Founder asks:
“Why does it feel like we’re losing money?”
Because no one is making decisions.
They’re reporting.
There’s a difference.
Here’s what actually moves profit:
• Scale SKUs that hit margin targets.
• Kill campaigns bleeding cash.
• Stop sending traffic to listings that don’t convert.
• Raise the price if CPC crushes contribution.
• Separate proven search terms from experiments.
None of that is complicated.
It’s uncomfortable.
Most agencies hide in dashboards:
“Performance was mixed.”
“We’re still testing.”
“We need more data.”
Sometimes that’s true.
Most of the time?
It’s hesitation.
Because making a hard call means owning the outcome.
Simple test.
Ask your agency:
“What’s the specific move next week to increase profit?”
Not traffic.
Not TACoS trendlines.
Profit.
If the answer isn’t clear, direct, and actionable…
You don’t have a partner.
You have a vendor.
And vendors don’t scale brands.
Operators do.
