There's one decision I made on Amazon years ago, that I still regret.
I agreed to a small SOA on a product to smooth a conversation with my Vendor Manger. It wasn't high value or a big deal at the time, and it helped keep the "relationship" positive.
But what it did do was..
Set a precedent for future conversations.
Changed the Vendor Manager's expectations of me and the business.
Became the new baseline for how we engaged in tough conversations.
Internally, this was never flagged as a mistake and if I'm honest it was just accepted as part of the process.
This is what I often see with margin loss on Amazon..it always feels like the right thing to do in the moment.
