Agencies do not help brands scale - systems do.
Some agencies happen to build systems.
But most agencies?
They do not.
Here is what usually happens:
A brand hits a ceiling.
Their revenue plateaus.
Their operations get messy.
The founder is doing everything.
⤷ So they hire an agency.
The agency takes over PPC.
Maybe creative.
Maybe catalog.
Six months later?
□ Ad spend went up
□ Revenue is flat or slightly up
□ Nobody can explain why TACoS crept from 12% to 18%
□ Brand owner still does not understand their own account
The brand did not get a system.
An agency that does not transfer knowledge is not scaling your brand.
⤷ It is creating a dependency you pay for monthly.
The question is not "agency or in-house."
The question is:
Does this relationship build a system that compounds?
✓ Do you know why decisions are being made?
✓ Can you read your own data without the agency translating it?
✓ If the agency disappeared tomorrow, could you operate for 90 days?
If the answer to any of those is no?
You do not have a growth partner.
⤷ You have a vendor.
The best agencies make themselves less necessary over time.
The worst ones make themselves impossible to leave.
Choose the one building the machine.
→ Not the one selling the hours.
