One of our earliest profitable Amazon plays didn’t start with software, ads, or a complex strategy.

It started with observation.

Jennifer Young was walking through a flea market and noticed a vendor selling cell phone cases for $2 each.

Out of curiosity, she checked Amazon.

The same cases were selling for $17 to $20.

Instead of saying “that’s interesting,” we asked a better question.

Why is there such a gap?

We learned he was buying return pallets from T Mobile. Many of the items were

unused returns. Perfectly sellable.

So we treated it like a business decision, not a gamble.

We validated pricing

Calculated margin

Negotiated bulk rates

Bought out inventory

Moved it through Amazon

Over the next three months we generated roughly $50,000 to $75,000 in profit.

That experience shaped how we approach Amazon to this day.

Successful sellers don’t chase trends.

They:

• look for inefficiencies

• validate demand

• calculate margin first

• and execute quickly when the math works

Amazon is less about “finding the perfect product” and more about developing the skill of spotting opportunity and reducing risk.

That mindset is what turns small wins into scalable businesses.

💭 Where did your first meaningful win in business come from, strategy or simply paying attention?
