My wife scaled a team at Amazon from 4 to 52 in 18 months.
There are a few things I learned from her on this…
Background:
All level 4 and 5 hires. All under huge pressure to deliver. And hundreds of interviews.
That experience taught us a simple truth: the system matters more than the CV.
The lesson? Success came from strict discipline around:
1/ Behavioural questions (“Tell me about a time when you…”) that force candidates to give real examples.
2/ Clear bar-raisers - every candidate measured against the same standard, not just “gut feel.”
3/ Structured notes so decisions weren’t based on memory or bias.
We’ve taken that same approach into our Amazon PPC recruitment process.
Every candidate goes through multiple structured rounds, including video tests and live interviews.
Every answer is evaluated for depth, clarity, and evidence of results.
👉 Fewer weak hires slip through.
👉 Stronger managers hit the ground running.
👉 Clients see performance sooner.
Because good hiring isn’t luck.
It’s process, discipline, and experience at scale.
