Ai will be a big part of how Amazon design teams work this year
But I don't think people count on how much efficiency comes from working with Figma or Canva
Tools that have been built with design systems in mind from day one
And the incredible levels of efficiency that comes from that.
Ai will definitely be part of our design system, but within the tools we already trust.
Why, as a designer, would I want to throw my whole organised system out the window to start designing on a completely new tool?
It can't be undervalued how much teams get from the comments feature on Figma.
Or file management.
Or drafts. And file history.
Or different access levels.
Do you think it's easy for a new tool to just recreate that, at the same time as building ai into it?
No.
My bet is the likes of Figma, Adobe, or Canva are putting shed loads of money into making ai part of their tool.
And the output will be remarkable when they get there.
It's currently in beta mode. It can generate some ok designs, often better than other stuff i've seen, but it's also talking to your whole design organisation (every other file). Which is pretty cool.
I imagine you'll soon be training Figma on your own designs so it knows what you define as best in class.
All of this will make our design team wildly efficient and help lower costs for clients.
