Signed up to a 100k ultra last night.

2800m elevation over Northern Wales.

11 months after saying I'd not be doing something stupid like this again.

But then James Hackney came back into my life.

And after many beers watching the rugby on Friday night the seed was set in my head.

That life would ultimately be dreadfully dull without putting ourselves through a series of long drawn out uncomfortable tasks.

Weaved in with some incredible experiences.

The last 100k, which I did with Ben Simmons below, was on the back of 3 months travel round South America.

Whilst f_ing good at walking. My boozing was of equal class.

I gave myself 3 months to go from that to 100.

And today presents a similar challenge.

I've been inactive for 5 weeks now. Perhaps more than any other time in my life.

A back tickle has plagued my day to day life. And the 5k run I went on 2 weeks ago left me a wee bit crippled.

But with exercise I like having something on the horizon otherwise I become mostly aimless. Throwing average weights around the gym and chucking in a long ride or 21k-er.

Now I have until 27th April 2024 to fix my back. And learn to run again.

And that 2800m elevation really adds insult to injury.

Godspeed.
