The Amazon review system is broken and I've come up with the solution.
➡️THIS MAY GET ME MY JOB BACK AT AMAZON!
Thinking Michelin star, but for Amazon reviews.
To highlight the problem I'm going to use the mobile phone case category.
Many products have thousands of reviews. I'm going to call these Valueless Reviews.
And the majority of these reviews simply don't go into enough detail and are not rich enough - by rich I basically mean video based.
Or like an excellent travel gear website which does review on day 1, review on day 30, 120, 360, 720. Which is fantastic.
Here's where the influencer comes in. But niche influencers.
If Marques Brownlee said this iPhone case was sturdy af and great all round, worth the extra $10, you'd buy immediately right.
It's because of the trust he's created.
But imagine you had a more niche influencer. Let's call them
"PhoneCaseSmasher1000"
All they do...is smash phone cases.
If Amazon worked with these niche influencers. And brands. To constantly share their products with them...
A new badge could be born.
An icon or widget which says "PhoneCaseSmasher1000" certified/verified.
Perhaps with a clickable link to the video on their Amazon page.
This, like a Michelin star, would solve the ongoing pain point for many Amazon consumers with Valueless Reviews.
Amazon, when you're ready to rehire me. But on an extortionate consultant day rate. My inbox is open.
