I'll paraphrase...
"Happiness is not the goal. You can get that with a bottle of wine (agreid). The opposite of happiness is sadness. It could also be boredom.
Excitement is a more practical synonym for happiness. It's what you should chase.
When people say follow your passion, I propose they are saying find something exciting.
The question is, what would excite me?"
We've had a great start to this year. Signing some brilliant new clients.
Yet I find myself checking the numbers, every morning, of two completely different things.
a) how many page views did the Amazon Creatives archives get (it's 70k MTD)
b) how many downloads did the A+ and storefront chrome extension get (~3/day)
All gurus and business mentors would tell me to remain disgustingly focused right now.
"Amazon advertising is pumping, you offer an exceptional amazon ads service, take advantage. Remain focused. Put all your energy there."
And they'd be right.
If money was the goal. If status was the goal.
It wouldn't excite me as much though.
So, what's the point?
Next month it might, but this month I'm excited by something else.
Doesn't mean I'm ignoring ads, I'm evidently not, it just means I'm using the business to get the maximum output for my personal goals. Which is excitement.
