How do so many coffee shops get this wrong
I’ve lived in bondi beach for 5 years now. And during my frequent mid afternoon lulls I like to visit 1 coffee shop on the main strip, for 1 reason, and it’s not their coffee.
Their chairs.
90% of cafes in bondi have stalls. Uncomfortable, low, stalls.
I’m 6”5, sitting on a 1 foot stool is a shitsperience.
I know why they do it. They want footfall as high as humanly possible. No interest in creating comfort.
But this 1 place, has 4 lovely (and cheap) chairs that you can sink into. And they strike a perfect balance, like many on the street, or sun and shade.
Meaning, I love to plonk myself down and stay for an hour.
Now I’m not a big eat outer. But I am consistent. And if I like something, I’ll keep going back.
So I’m an ok customer but not amazing.
However, others will be attracted to this place for the same reason. Probably get lunch everyday and read their book (scroll junk on TikTok).
If they were smart and added a QR code on every table and the counter to their Google my business page, the reviews would pour in. Particularly with an incentive.
If they made some keyword suggestions, such as “most comfortable cafe in bondi” then I’m confident they’d soak up lots of new tourists too.
But, they don’t.
Which I’m delighted with, because it’s not very busy and I never feel guilty sitting for that bit longer.
Is it just me that picks dining experience based on comfort level? Aged 30.
