After I left Amazon my new job paid me £45k base and an average £1-1.5k monthly bonus. The job they had me doing was utterly mental...
Month 1 ➡️ sign restaurants up to our marketplace. No problems here. Prove your worth by being ok at sales.
Month 2 ➡️ ring up clients like WeWork and ask them what their team wanted for lunch that week. Take the order over the phone.
"Yep, 3 chicken sandwiches, 15 tuna, and a salad platter"
Then manually punch that all into Salesforce for the order to be processed.
I'd also chase people up for orders and be a middle man between the delivery driver and the company.
Let's say I was averaging £60k/year. £31/hour to take food orders and type them into a system.
I firmly believe that 80% of companies have well paid employees doing sh_t like this.
This summer I took a friend through the inner workings of Upwork and why they should utilise overseas talent to do part of their job at work.
I don't see how the company could even be angry. If they're focusing that time on closing deals instead of doing manual or bulk searches, then it's fantastic for them.
I now have a vision of them declaring it at a Friday afternoon meeting. Perhaps getting a promotion. Or fired.
