Who should pay the Stripe or credit card fee? Agency or client?
For the last 4+ years we've used Stripe. We get charged a % by Stripe, ~3%, for taking the payment.
It's been very easy to setup. And easy for clients to setup recurring payments.
But 3% adds up.
A £2000/month retainer costs you £720/year.
That is dead money.
If the client were to pay directly. Traditional style of we send invoice, they send the money to our account. The fees are a much smaller.
£720/year saved.
Given online payments are very easy in today's world. What is fair here?
A) Stripe. Client doesn't have to do anything. They get credit card points. Agency loses £720/year.
B) Direct. Client spends 2-5 minutes a month. They don't get credit card points. Agency saves £720/year.
What's the fairest option?
