It's refreshing to see other consultants tearing Amazon reps apart with me.

If you're not subscribed to Martin Heubel's newsletter already, here is an example as to why you should ➡️

"If you are an FMCG brand, you may be asked to invest in Amazon Basket this year.

It's Amazon's latest attempt to entice customers to buy products with a low sales price.

Here's how it works:

Customers buy a minimum of 4 eligible items and get a 5% discount at checkout.

This is great for Amazon because sending products together reduces shipping costs.

It's not so great for vendors asked to pay for the inclusion of their products in the programme.

The problem is:

Amazon has not yet shared any insights into the performance of the initiative.

And because of the lack of transparency, you can safely assume that the uplift is negligible to achieve your ambitions with Amazon in 2022.

So should you consider investing?

» Yes, if you are using it as a relationship lever.

» No, if you are looking for profitable opportunities to grow your business.

Remember:

If your Vendor Manager can't back up their claims with data, your money is probably better spent elsewhere."
