Focus groups seem stupid nowadays.
Imagine this π
You'd pay for a group of people to come together. You'd go buy some biscuits and tea/coffee. You'd rent the room out maybe. Then you'd get 2 staff members down, pay them some expenses or overtime.
Just so you can get some insights from a group.
Which does make sense. I think it's a great idea. But it sounds stupid when you compare it to a Facebook group.
You can set them up in under 15 minutes. It costs you nothing. You can get a huge background of individuals to join from your email list, social followers, or customers during unboxing.
Then you can ask questions of them all the time.
"Quick poll, which colour bottle do YOU like most" - packaging redesign
"How would you describe us to a friend" - understanding language
"Would you be interested in a bigger bottle" - product validation
Super fast insights backed by data from your specific target customer.
It's got a lot easier for brands, but many are not using such mediums to help themselves.
