A pretty damning report from an ITV investigation uncovered these figures.
Everything from laptops to Dyson fans getting sent to waste management centres or landfill sites.
It’s easy to see why this can happen. Brands are given the choice, return or destroy. It’s cheaper to destroy than return to your country.
Amazon are doing some cool things with the Climate Friendly Pledge on listings now. But is this just bollocks and lip service to being a greener company? Probably.
They’re actively encouraging more Chinese sellers on the platform (link below) who I very much doubt will be asking for their cheaply made products to be sent back to them.
You'll see I have a love-hate relationship with Amazon. Which is challenging when offering an Amazon advertising service. But I largely see my role as someone who's sharing and offering opinions on the Amazon ecosystem. Regardless of how positive/negative those opinions are. Don't be confused, I still think Amazon is great in many ways, but I don't view it with rose-tinted glasses.
