Introducing online techniques to offline businesses has become a sad little habit of mine.

The girlfriend rolls her eyes as I explain to Michael and Sue that they their 17 Google reviews are rookie numbers, you gotta pump those numbers up. Note: it’s a new BnB.

“You’re asking people to write a review on a bit of paper, that isn’t going to help you get new business, you want it in the public eye as social proof.” I exclaim like some little virgin who’s never seen the light of day.

“We’re all accustomed to using QR codes now” pointing at the check-in code they have at reception. “You can set one of these up that directs someone straight to your Google reviews page. Removes all the hurdles for them of typing in a URL or searching in Google.”

By this point the Mrs has started stabbing the car keys into the side of her head. In the hope it may cure her boredom.

But I don’t care.

They seemed happy and enlightened. Maybe they’ll implement, maybe they won’t. Either way I left them a stellar review, then logged into Jo’s phone to leave them a second. #BlackHat

Also would work well for a new coffee shop getting up ‘n running, give people a free coffee if they leave a review. Most people are frugal or tight and would jump at the opp to save a few quid. Your reviews then pump up in the first few weeks and BOOM you’re discoverable.
