Clients ask me about internal account managers at Amazon

And I also have a little schpeel

When I was working at Amazon, across a few different teams, we always had an objective.

A KPI that we were looking to hit.

What this meant was we didn't think much outside of that number.

We had tunnel vision.

It didn't cross our mind that running ads hard and lowering the price would cause stock issues down the line.

Which would massively impact ranking and cost a lot to recover.

We weren't thinking about that.

All of this learning actually came after I left, where I started to layer new knowledge on top of the foundation developed as an Amazonian.

It then starts to compound over the years. Something that many consultants in the space will resonate with.

They've just got compounded knowledge.

Which helps them "look round corners" -> (Amazon term)

So next time you get approached about a new beta being rolled out

Always ask yourself

Have they actually got your best interest at heart?

Or, are you just a KPI to them.
