Most small to medium sized business owners I speak with think short term on Amazon

“George” they say

“If we’re paying for social advertising, we’d want to send them to our website where we make more margins”

And my question is always prettty much the same

“Sign a big fat retainer and I’ll tell you why that’s wrong”

No, I don’t actually say that yet

I say “what page do you want to be on a year from now”

I then follow it with things like

“Do you see Amazon taking more market share?”

Because my mindset is quite simple really

Your customer wants to shop on Amazon

You want to reach as many customers as you can, organically

So you want to be positioned on page 1 for your primary search terms

If you play short-term and chase margins on your site

You’re ignoring the long-term OBJECTIVE of generating sustainable organic sales on Amazon

Which happens to also be the worlds best customer acquisition channel

So are you a long-term thinker, or a fool?
