Reasons not to go out of stock on Amazon

1) You don't make any sales (that's the obvious one)

2) You fall down the sales rankings for all of your target search terms because you're not converting on any of those terms. This isn't a quick fix either. If you fall down the rankings, when you're back in stock you don't immediately go back up, it can take MONTHS and lots of work (ad spend, promos etc)

3) Your competitors can bid on your keywords and steal those looking for your brand, particularly bad if there are repeat purchase opportunities

4) Amazon now have this new widget, I've not seen it yet, giving organic placements at the top of your detail page to those that they deem a relevant replacement - great to your comp. bad, very bad, for you.
