Unilever ditching Facebook is certainly a huge blow for Zuck

But those advertising dollars aren’t going to disappear

We can expect to see a switch of ad dollars from Facebook over to the likes of Amazon

Amazon is currently bottom of funnel

Where customers are both problem and solution aware

This means they are there to BUY

It makes it a brilliant advertising opportunity but also a competitive one, because everyone is after that 3% who are red hot

Facebook traditionally is more top of funnel. You grab a potential customer who’s not necessarily problem aware, educate and nurture them, then slide in for the sale.

Brands won’t stop spending altogether because you need traffic to succeed, so it’s logically going to go somewhere else, and Amazon is looking very likely

This isn’t great news if you’re a smaller player though, as the heavyweights are coming with there very deep pockets.

What do you think are the implications of brands leaving Facebook for advertising?
