According to finder, Amazon Prime Day was ten times smaller in Australia than overseas, which will make multiple people think, ''Is the Oz marketplace really going to take-off?''
Yet, when you look at facts, there is a little bit more to the story:
1. Keep in mind that Australia only has a fraction of the population of the US, and many millions less than the UK and Canada. More people. More deals. More sales.
2. Amazon is still in the process of establishing itself in Australia, and businesses currently sitting on the fence have yet to take the "if you can't beat them, join them" approach. As soon as businesses learn more about the platform, along with the expansion of additional fulfilment centres, I'm expecting the range of products to increase substantially as more and more businesses jump on board.
3. Amazon Prime launched in the UK in 2007. When did it launch in Oz? This summer.
At the start of summer everyone was dismissing the England football team. Come the end of it, we were all inviting Gareth Southgate around for afternoon tea. Don't write Amazon Australia off before it's had time to walk out on the pitch.
